Costume? Check. Hairspray? Check. Makeup? Check. Ballet Shoes? Check, now I am ready to hit the stage.
I was all of four years old when the love for glamour started. Dancing in fabulous costumes throughout my life started my love affair with fashion. From an early age, I craved the attention and drama that came with performing on stage and now I use the urban jungle as my stage and as my runway.
I am Nicole deRoux and as a first time Style Guru I am exited to be sharing my fashion insights with you. I have long awaited a platform for me to share my thoughts and my love for fashion, beauty and lifestyle. I will be highlighting my personal style, as well as featuring the looks I find eye-catching and trendy, while exploring the city. I am a rising junior at Drexel University, which is located in Philadelphia, making it a great and inspiring place to be exposed to fashion.
I love trends and funky style choices. I love to pair a unique piece with something simpler like a plain tee, or a simple dress with some killer shoes. When shopping I try to save on basic items that pair well with everything and splurge a little more on unique items that make people wonder where you got it. This preference I learned from my mom, who always has a unique statement necklace and a red lip no matter what.
A simple way to spice up a look is by adding a necklace and a belt. With this look, I wore a tank top and skirt from LF stores and paired them with an Urban Outfitters black western belt and a silver South Moon Under choker. This outfit also would not be complete without my “go-to” Jeffrey Campbell lace-up heels and my mirrored sunglasses for a pop of color. I spiced up a classic black and white look, with an interesting pattern and some fun colorful sunglasses.
I look forward to what the semester has in store. My favorite season for fashion is coming up, so be on the lookout for more rad articles from me. Stay fab, Fashionistas.
