Hello fellow Fashionistas/os. This fall 2016 will be my fifth term as a Style Guru and my second term as an Editorial Intern with CollegeFashionista. When I first started CollegeFashionista, I was actually finishing up my undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto; I have a major in media studies and a double minor in economics and english. I always knew that I wanted to study fashion, but didn’t know what other jobs were out there besides fashion designing.
The problem with fashion designing is that I can be a perfectionist. Anytime I would sew, I always found myself sewing the same seam over and over again. It drove me crazy. There was no way that my sewing could be perfect every single time. CollegeFashionista opened my eyes to pursue different fashion related career possibilities. This is why I am currently studying fashion marketing at the Toronto Film School.
I would describe my style as classic. Since starting my new program, I have incorporated edgier pieces into my outfits to push my style a little bit more. For example, I am wearing a black knit T-shirt dress (nothing is more classic than that right?) that I have paired with a grey soft knit asymmetrical sweater. I absolutely love asymmetric closures; especially in leather jackets. Since it isn’t cold yet, this sweater is perfect for a breezy day (I’ll save the leather for a colder fall day).
As part of my style, I never leave the house without a ring on. I’m wearing my graduating ring from the University of Toronto. To match my ring, my grandmother gifted me her favourite necklace. I think the blue sapphire fits perfectly in with my classic style. I strongly believe that no classic girl can go without a swipe of red lipstick. I am wearing NYX’s matte lipstick in Bloody Mary; a cranberry red that is blue toned. Blue toned lipsticks actually make your teeth appear whiter.
Summer’s not quite over yet, so I never leave without a pair of shades. Of course, my go-to are a pair of black sunglasses.
I am excited to be back. I am even more excited to share my style and the style of other Fashionistas/os out there for you to view.
