Hey Fashionistas!
My name is Katie Hattabaugh and I am a sophomore at Saddleback College in sunny Orange County, California. This is my second semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, and I have been having a blast keeping an eye out for the latest trends and fashions on campus.
I have been involved in fashion since I was a baby; in fact, there are countless pictures of me playing dress-up wearing anything from a Cinderella dress to a stretchy textbook cover on my head!
My style changes daily, and I can be seen in nearly every trend—I’ll try everything at least once! I love to watch people and observe current fashions, and I am very excited for what is coming this fall, specifically, over-the-knee boots and velvet.
For this outfit, I woke up the morning of and felt groggy and disgusting. A great start for my first article this semester. Naturally, I wanted to wear my comfy green jogger pants from Nordstrom, that I got on sale, of course. To dress up the outfit, I paired it with some on-trend lace-up sandals and my favorite Free People top, a staple in my wardrobe that I wish I could wear everyday. I will admit that the pants are not the most flattering on me, so to add some definition to my waist, I tied my top in a knot to make it cropped. This way, the eye is drawn to the small of my waist instead of the bulkiness of my pants. I wore a new necklace that I got at a boutique in Carlsbad, and it is a gorgeous Y-shape made of crystals that compliment my skin tone. Finally, to give it that back-to-school look, I wore my studded backpack that I thrifted from Goodwill.
For beauty, I have been going with less and less makeup lately. My new favorite skin tint and foundation is from NARS, and I also got a new set of brushes that seriously makes  times easier and more effective. Highlighter has been my best friend in order to keep things light and natural, but still flattering.
And boom, an outfit. For my early morning classes, I usually default to leggings and sneakers, but in order to be a true Style Guru I needed to amp it up! By choosing staple pieces from my wardrobe and dressing them up in little ways, I made sure I got the best of both worlds—comfy and stylish. Thank goodness for the athletic trend, because if I was feeling super lazy I could even throw on my adidas sneakers and still stay more dressed up.
I hope you enjoyed reading, and I hope you stay tuned for more articles featuring the latest trends for fall!
