Hi everyone! My name is Kristine Adana and I’m a business student from the University of Limerick in Ireland. I’m so thrilled to be part of the Guru Gang for the first time and I can’t wait to start sharing my style finds here in the humble little city of Limerick. A few trivial things about me: I’m a Sagittarius, my favourite color is pink, spending a semester in France has turned me into a wine-mom and I used to always wear a watch until the battery died and I was too lazy to get it replaced.
One of the hardest parts about writing this bio is describing my style. How do I go about this? I swear I’ve been sitting here for a good 15Â minutes, still in my pajamas, trying to sum up my fashion sense in a few phrases. Okay, I’m going to start by stating that the most important thing for me is COMFORT. I need to always feel confident in what I’m wearing and, to me, that’s what being stylish is all about. My wardrobe mostly consists of basics that never let me down with some more fashion-forward pieces thrown into the mix. Mind you, I do have a few wackier pieces but they hardly ever come out to play. Ideally, I would love to build up a really sleek, pared-down, minimalist wardrobe, but sadly I love shopping too much. As for accessories, I don’t like piling a whole lot onto my outfit. In fact, I barely use them at all. However, when I do feel like stepping up my ensemble, I usually go for just one piece of jewelry, and it’s usually a pair of earrings. My favorite ones at the moment are a pair of silver hoops from cheap and cheerful Primark. I’m wearing them in my photos above, along with a pink polo top from H&M, a checkered skirt from Zara (very Cher Horowitz if I may say so myself), my trusty New Balance sneakers and an old denim jacket.
Oh, and this is probably the most defining quality of my personal style: I cannot resist a good bargain. Maybe around 75 percent of my clothes come from the sales rack. What can I say, sales calm my soul. It makes me feel like I’m gaining a profit, which, coming from a business student, is absolute nonsense, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who believes in that logic, right?
When I’m looking for style inspiration, I usually go to social media. I typically creep on bloggers’ Instagram accounts, watch my favourite YouTubers (Smel and Punk from The Fashion Citizen in particular) and, of course, there’s the incredibly stylish people on my campus. That’s why I’m so looking forward to this semester and putting University of Limerick out there on the fashion map. Watch this space, darlings, there’s more to come soon!
