Many trends introduced for the fall 2016 season from New York Fashion Week can be challenging to adapt into your wardrobe. Some trends can be too extreme to try and may be too far outside of your comfort zone. But my mission was to find a new upcoming fashion trend for this fall and a way for college students to execute it with pieces they can easily purchase or that can already be found in their closets.
This Fashionista ironically already had the perfect fashion-forward pieces in her wardrobe that I needed to showcase this fall’s top two colors; pink and bright yellow. An unlikely pair of colors for the fall.
Designers such as Ulla Johnson, Jade Lai and Marissa Webb are just a few who have incorporated rose quartz and chartreuse shades into their fall clothing lines. So how do college students incorporate these colors into their wardrobes? Here are a few ways to add some pink and yellow to your fall outfits in a sophisticated and trendy way.
With chilly fall weather soon to arrive, oversized sweaters and skinny jeans are staple pieces that will definitely keep you warm this season. Try finding ones that either pop with a bright shade of pink or have a blush tone that can be paired with other colors within your outfit.
The tricky part is incorporating yellow somewhere into the mix. A camisole in electric yellow adds that perfect vibrant pop of color without going overboard or clashing with the other shades of pink. Another way to add these colors into your outfit is through accessories. Statement earrings or necklaces and even scarves in neon yellow and pink can be paired with other fall colors while still brightening your outfit and following the latest fashion trend.
Before you take this trend to the streets, make sure to not take the other components of your look to an extreme. Wear a simple hairstyle, like a ponytail or ballerina bun, and go natural with your makeup selection. Less is more! Finish with a nude or neutral pair of shoes that won’t take away from your complete (and colorful) outfit.
