Now that fall is upon us at last, it’s time to take a little trip back to the runway shows of this past spring. While the fall 2016 shows were extravagant and at many times a little out there, we all couldn’t help but fall in love with practically all of the looks. From the oversized sweaters, lace and the David Bowie-esque boots in the Marc Jacobs show, to the furs and flowers from Fendi, we are all wondering exactly how to incorporate these trends into our own outfits this fall. So, in order to help you Fashionistas out, I’ve chosen my favorite trend from NYFW and have incorporated it into an easy everyday outfit that anyone can rock.
While most designers stay away from color for the fall season, this year was definitely the exception. We saw quite a few models dressed in the sunny combination of dusty rose hues and bright yellows. Of all the trends on the runway, this is probably the most wearable, as long as you’re willing to embrace color and stand out against the typical navys, tans and blacks usually worn in the colder months. For this look I chose my comfy pink sweater from Banana Republic paired with some mustard yellow cropped pants and a classy, pink coat and heels. I took inspiration primarily from the Creatures of Comfort, Delpozo and Ulla Johnson shows. The pink and yellow looks from these shows center around structure and simplicity and can easily be mimicked.
New York Fashion Week is my favorite time of the year, full of inspiration and excitement. While you by no means have to embrace all of the runway trends, it’s fun to experiment with new styles and, in this case, color combinations. This season is definitely going to be a fashionable one, and I look forward to seeing what everyone has to offer. Good luck and happy fall!
