Fall is here in Charleston! What Charleston lacks is the classic autumnal aesthetics, the changing of the leaves and cozy sweaters, but students at CofC make up for it with killer fall style. Though I’m sweating when I’m enjoying a soy pumpkin spice latte, I couldn’t help but take notice this Fashionisto’s stunning outfit. This outfit represents the western trend that the fashion world is drooling over right now. From Vetements , to Coach and Dolce & Gabbana , designers are revamping classic John Wayne-esque cowboy looks. The romanticization of the west has always been part of American culture, the rugged individualism and the daring sense of adventure and venturing out west seems almost like a fairy tale. This period has inspired designers around the world, as they design their personal take on the American adventuress spirit of the west. It’s no secret that fashion has a thing for nostalgia. The resurgence of the 1990s fashion (slip dresses, overalls and chokers) has spread like wildfire, but now designers are going back even further than the 1990s; it’s all about 1890s.
The western trend is a great look to try out for fall. Though it can pose to be intimidating at first, this trend can be as simple or as literal as you want to make it. As seen on this Fashionisto, he took a simple white button up and layered it with a vest and added a bolo tie and a hat to pull the outfit together. The olive-colored pants give the outfit a little pop of color. The use of earth tones made this outfit sophisticated, subtle and perfect for fall.  If you’re feeling more daring, you can try a more Vetements or Dolce & Gabbana-inspired take on western trends, by wearing a top with yoking and floral designs. To avoid looking costume-like in a western-inspired top, make the rest of your outfit simple, the perfect go-to is pairing the top with denim. With that being said, let this Fashionisto inspire you to dazzle and wow all your friends with this fun, fall trend!
