Looking Good—How to Wear This Season's Eyewear Trends

I used to be very intimidated by adding sunglasses and eyeglasses to my outfits. It often felt like eyeglasses came across as over-accessorizing, while wearing sunglasses in the fall and winter is a bit much given the shorter days or lack of blaring sunshine.

However, sporting specs on a daily basis has become an important part of my morning routine in the last few months, mainly due to the way other fashion trends have gravitated towards incorporating eyewear. The current “it” girls have been wearing a wide variety of eyewear styles in their selfies, streetstyle bloggers have made four eyes cool again and even the runway has incorporated glasses designs. Brands like Warby Parker have made eyewear more accessibl. Plus, it’s not a bad idea to be able to actually see what’s going on around you.

The #StyleGuruLove Instagram tag has been really embracing eyewear this season, and I’ve even noticed on campus that more and more students are wearing glasses instead of contacts. Check out these trendy styles to try out your own eyewear looks and get some inspiration from our Style Gurus on how to wear them yourself!

5— Mixing the old and new is trending even with sunglasses! This Style Guru’s frames take inspiration from cat-eye glasses and the Aviator rim, then pairs them with a circular lens for an eye-catching style. (Photo via @riaxla)
