As the weather cools down, it comes time to get a pumpkin spice latte, bundle up and get cozy. Since wearing a blanket is not necessarily socially acceptable (unless you have an early morning math class—then anything goes), a long sweater can be the next best thing. A long cardigan covers a lot and is rather shapeless, making it hard to style it and still look business-casual. I was happy to find someone who was able to make a long cardigan look semi-professional.
I met this sweet Fashionista on her way back to her car after class and had such a wonderful time taking pictures and talking about clothes that I forgot to ask for her name. It was her multi-colored sweater that instantly caught my attention, and I loved how she styled it. Her off-white blouse tucked into a pair of darker-washed skinny jeans added a tailored element that complimented the sweater. I liked how she paired the basic white shirt and jeans look with a pop of color in the sweater. Her look is something that I would wear if I wanted to look put together and professional but still relatively casual. I asked about her adorable black kitten-heeled booties, and she said she borrowed them from her mom’s closet. I loved the mixture of textures with the patent leather and suede.
The sweater itself makes the look, and the pockets are the perfect size for your phone—since there’s nothing worse than a too-small pocket. So next time you want to feel cozy and comfortable for a business-casual occasion, do not shy away from the long cardigan.
