WHAT TO WEAR: Fashion Frenzy

This just in Fashionistas/os, fall has finally plummeted in the Big Apple! Style Guru Yara back for more advice on fashion from a global perspective. This article’s subject is a Fashionista named Jiasui, a Chinese native who has come to this concrete jungle to build her dreams.

Chic and classy are two categories that should always go together, regardless of the occasion. High-waist skirts definitely fall into that description, especially when paired with a not so revealing crop top or even tucked in shirt. A personal favorite of any outfit is when shoes can be swapped, either to tone up the outfit or even dress it down for a more casual occasion. The right kind of accessories also work to enhance an outfit and make the overall look better, whether it is a nice bag, jewelry or even sunglasses. Depending on the occasion, a lot can be done to make both you and your outfit stand out!

With regards to Jiasui’s look, she paired an opaque and translucent black striped high waist skirt with its matching crop top. A simple pendant necklace helped to keep the attention focused on the outfit adding a bit of movement to it. Moreover, she accessorized with a black and white cross body purse that she lightly slung over one shoulder, not to cover up or distort the outfit. In order to break away from the seriousness/professionalism of her outfit, Jiasui wore stylish bold circular sunglasses that definitely make a statement! The black point toed pumps were just enough to finish off her look, not taking away any attention from the main look. However, for a more subtle look, the heels can be swapped for a nice pair of flats and the cross body purse for a larger tote. What I also like about this look, is that it can easily be turned into an evening outfit by throwing on a trench coat over it or even into a business look with a chic shorter blazer. This is definitely one of my favorite looks I have seen in New York so far!

As Rachel Zoe might say, “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.”
