STYLE GURU STYLE: Corduroy, Suede and Knit

With fashion week that happened in late September and early October, I have been spending way too much time on social media and Vogue. As I was looking for inspiration for a cozy fall look, I came across some of the most beautiful and interesting designs—padded shoulders, poofed dresses, futuristic looks, belted waists…There were too many favorites. however a couple that inspired me were Carven and Public Desire’s FW16 collections.

Carven’s fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection embodies youth and joy. Each piece speaks its own character of what a woman should be—feminine with an attitude and someone who enjoys a well-rounded life. It’s the touch of that sweet pastel color and bold pattern and darker color palette that caught my eyes. Similarly, Public School’s fall 2016 collection defines women in a different way. Creative designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne depict women as someone who is powerful, independent, fierce and unique in the collection. The two collections are totally exclusive and different, but they both visibly show who women are and capable of becoming.

As a young woman, I see who I want to become through the collections. I want to be someone who is different and confident in what I do and excel in that area. My look is highly inspired by a combination of Carven and Public School’s design. For my look, I chose an oversized ribbed turtleneck sweater. It’s the perfect item for a cold October day. With that, nothing else says “fall” more than corduroy. To incorporate that feminine touch like Carven’s collection, I chose to pair it with a pink corduroy skirt. To complete my outfit, the classic Stuart Weitzman’s over-the-knee boots gave me a great touch up for the perfect fall look. At last, I picked out my Chanel graffiti backpack to add a nice casual touch to the outfit then I was good to conquer the world!

Confidence can sometimes be brought out by what you wear, so don’t be afraid to be who you want to be and wear what you want to wear!
