For all my fellow East Coast Fashionistas/os, winter is definitely upon us. I see it now with the below 30 degree weather and the occasional snowflakes. Extreme weather like this makes it hard to dress for the cold, because the bulky layers that we have to wear to stay warm can make it hard to keep our personal style shining through the winter.
It’s not always freezing every day on the East Coast; sometimes, we get good days where you don’t have to go out with gloves, a scarf, a hat and three layers of clothing.
What I like about this Fashionista, who I caught on one of the warmer days on campus, is that she was able to dress for warmth and still keep her style.
I have always been a big fan of cardigans like this grey one from H&M, I probably own like 20 in my own closet. Although not always thick enough for 30 degree weather, they are cute to wear out on a warmer day or underneath a snow jacket for a little outfit reveal.
A popular trend this season, and one of my latest obsessions, is that of the boot. I’m talking booties, knee high boots, peep-toe boots and heeled boots. They can come in just about any color and go with almost any outfit whether you want to dress it up or stay casual. The brown ankle boots in this Fashionista’s outfit, although casual, spice up this look a little bit. In the winter, boots look cute and are able to keep your feet warm.
Dressing up for winter doesn’t have to be a struggle between staying warm or looking cute whilst actually cold. You can have the best of both worlds by layering long sleeves with cardigans or other sweaters, skinny jeans, a tube scarf and ankle boots, or opt for a dress with tights, knee high boots and a fancy coat if you’re going for a night out look. So if you’re trying to find a way to jazz up your winter wardrobe, I highly encourage you to rock the boot on your campus!
