Hey fashion lovers! I’m Dana Durante, a sophomore at Illinois State University majoring in public relations. This past semester, I lived in Brighton, England and traveled all across Europe. Being able to see European street style in person heavily influenced my style for the new year. I am so happy I can still get my European fashion fix here in America by shopping at stores like Zara and Topshop. Other than shopping, I spend way too much of my time stalking Kendall Jenner and Olivia Culpo’s instagrams for outfit inspiration.
Scarves have been my all time favorite accessory this past year. I normally just stick to a simple necklace, but I’ve branched out and have tried all different colors and patterns of scarves. Especially now that it is cold out, silk scarves have a dual purpose for keeping you warm and trendy. My other favorite accessory has been my western styled belt from a thrift store in London. I’ve been in the market for a new belt and this one just screamed “buy me” when I saw it. I always hated how belts would be seen but when I wear this one, I wear shirts that show it off.
My style varies from day to day but my love for embroidered tees stays the same. Embroidered t-shirts are like the 2016/2017 version of a graphic tee. Some of the phrases are so fun you really could get away with anything written on your shirt. When planning your week of outfits for class, you can never go wrong with a simple tee and fluffy cardigan. Believe me, I do love wearing cheetah print everything, but there are days at school when I feel so much more comfortable wearing a simple t-shirt.
I’m so excited to get back on campus and see how college fashion has changed while I was studying abroad. Here’s to a great semester!
