Hello Fashionistas! My name is Lessly and this is my first semester contributing as a StyleGuru for CollegeFashionista. I am a sophomore at Rutgers University hoping to combine journalism and public relations for my future endeavors. Some fun facts, in case you were wondering: I’m a vegetarian and I probably spend an unhealthy amount of time lurking on pugs over the internet. But beyond that, I am so excited for the opportunities, tips, and networking that this internship will bring me!
My love for fashion started probably as a sophomore in high school. Up until then we all went through the awkward fan girl phase. I gather my inspiration mostly from platforms like Instagram and YouTube. I also shop way too much, way too often. Considering we’re all StyleGurus, I think we can all agree over the joy of a little retail therapy.
I tend to coordinate my style with the seasons. With the spring semester coming up, you’ll catch me compulsively shopping for bright skirts, peachy makeup and some cute but comfy booties to top it all off. Until then, however, I try my best to incorporate these looks with more dark colors and easy-to-layer clothing, ready for wherever my adventures may take me. I would say that my style is definitely girly-chic. I love, love, love anything that sparkles, mauve-y pinks and I am most definitely a makeup hoarder.
As a petite girl I find it very difficult to find jeans that will fit me perfectly, so why go through the trouble when leggings and skirts exist? Basically, I live in these and I find them so comfortable and flattering for whatever occasion; easy to dress up or down. To best describe my sense of style, however, I’d say that I love the laid back casual feel of Brandy Melville, while also adoring the quirky-chic style offered by Kate Spade.
I look forward to keeping up with all of your unique fashion trends and sharing with you what I come across on campus! Stay confident, vivacious, and curious my fellow StyleGurus.
