Look up a girl who loves traveling, fashion, and photography in the dictionary and you’ll find me, Divya. Whether you find me in my home city of NYC or gallivanting on Oxford Street in London, don’t be surprised if I have my Canon camera around my neck and dressed to impressed.
I am a freshman at Boston University and super excited to be working as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista this semester. Currently, I am in a general studies program and will be pursuing communications with a concentration in public relations/media studies and a minor in photography and marketing.
My style tends to sway from all sides of the fashion spectrum. One day you could see me dressed with simple elegance to meet the Queen and another day dressed like I’m attending Paris Fashion Week with Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid. I love to try different types of clothing and trends and even blend them to create my own. I feel that this is important because it allows me to have a sense of individualism.
This specific outfit fits my personality to the T. During my winter break, I was fortunate enough to travel to Mumbai, India and learn more about my culture. Though I was born and raised in the States, my parents actively made sure I was exposed to my Indian heritage and culture. Excited to be out of the New York cold, I decided to put together an outfit that reflected my style, with an Indian twist. For this summer outfit, I put together a simple black V-neck top with a denim vest, on top of a simple ethnic skirt. One of the most important factors I put into an outfit are the accessories. For this specific style, I added an Indian inspired ring connected bracelet and a simple chain choker with a layer necklace and, of course, my sunglasses for the intense Indian sun. I decided to display this one of a kind outfit in a few of my favorite parts of Mumbai—the Taj Mahal Palace hotel and the Gateway of India.
I am so honored to be given this opportunity to take a few of my passions and put them together with the help of CollegeFashionista. With my camera in hand and the world at my fingertips, I hope I will be able to expose various fashion trends to our college community.
