Hi, fellow Fashionistas! My name is Sophie Miller. I am currently a junior at Marist College located in Poughkeepsie, New York. I am majoring in fashion merchandising with a concentration in fashion promotion. I recently took a semester off from being a Style Guru to focus on my study abroad experience in Florence, Italy. Studying abroad was truly a life an eye-opening experience that changed almost every aspect of my life including fashion.
Returning this semester for my fifth time as a Style Guru, style influences from Europe will definitely be showcased in my articles. During my travels, I was lucky to have had the opportunity to visit cities such as Milan and Paris, which are two of the biggest fashion capitals in the world. During my time in these major cities, along with my history of costume course, I was able to see numerous exhibitions on the history of fashion. Learning an in-depth knowledge of the fashion industry has definitely had an impact on the outfits I put together during studying abroad as while as now returning home to New York. Now I would describe my style as a combination of European and U.S. fashion.
To showcase this new-found style, I created an all black and white look. Black is always my go-to color. This mock turtleneck, oversized, black and white sweater is perfect for cold winter days because it will keep you just as warm as a blanket while still looking cute. I paired this sweater with simple black leggings and black over-the-knee boots. The over-the-knee boot trend was definitely my favorite trend of 2016; I love how long they make your legs look! To keep the all-black look going, I wore my go-to purse and silver rings. This outfit is one of my favorites which I will be sure to be rocking all winter long.
