Hey Fashionistas/os! I’m Brianna Nailah. I attend Bowie State University in Maryland as an emerging media and fashion design student. I’m back for a second semester with College Fashionista and am so excited! Honestly, at the beginning of my journey last semester with CollegeFashionista I was quite nervous about writing and sharing my articles with you all. It was my first ever time doing anything remotely like this! I am so glad I did though. From just one semester the opportunities and knowledge I have gained are priceless.
To many people, the fashion industry is superficial. However, we Fashionistas/os know it is the exact opposite. Fashion is an art form, it gives me the ability to express myself, my emotions and personality when words do not feel like enough. That is why when I am asked to define my personal style I am always stuck. Everyday, I am able to recreate myself. For the most part I am drawn to minimal, monochromatic looks and elements of street, bohemian, and grunge get thrown in the mix.
This outfit is a perfect example of me mixing grunge and street style. The pairing of a basic black embroidered, graphic tee with leather leggings is simple but will still have you standing out in a crowd. This particular graphic T-shirt is thrifted but you can find a variety of similar ones at Urban Outfitters for an affordable price. The leather leggings are a piece I always have in my closet, they are such an easy way to edge up any look! Bomber jackets do not seem to be going anywhere this season and having a plain black one is a must. Everything is pulled together by these Nike sneakers that put the finishing street style element needed in this look. And last but not least, the rhinestone choker and my stacked gold rings add some glitz and femininity to this look!
This semester I hope you stick around again for more articles that hopefully inspire you to continue expressing yourself through fashion and clothing.
