Hi, Fashionista/os! My name is Emily Schukai and I am so excited to be returning as a Style Guru this spring. I am a freshman at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles as a communication studies major, and recently became a dance minor this past fall. I am very much looking forward to sharing the style I see on my campus.
My personal style continues to vary from day to day based on my mood, the weather, or the occasion. But after my first semester in college, I learned that more days than not, I will just want to wear a T-shirt, shorts, and sneakers. This style also tends to work quite well with the dance courses that I take for my minor. But this spring semester, I will not have a dance class. Instead, I will have more afternoon classes, so maybe I will actually spend a bit more time getting ready. For example, here I am wearing a pink sweatshirt dress, knee high socks, black booties, and a choker.
L.A. is no joke when it comes to the heat. I’m pretty sure this fall it stayed in the 80s until mid-November. This has definitely changed my style (and my mindset), being a Midwestern gal and all. The second it drops below 60 degrees, the cardigans and jeans come out. But I have loved every second of being in this large, hot, and diverse city. It has become home to me, and I am so looking forward to this semester and wrapping up my freshmen year!
When I am not napping in between classes or doing homework, I love to watch Youtube videos and Netflix—I took up Vampire Diaries and a British show called Black Mirror during fall semester. I also enjoy hanging in my friends’ dorm rooms and chatting it up all night. I cannot wait for what this semester will hold as a Style Guru!
