Hey all! I’m Ciara. I am in my senior year at the Fashion Institute of Technology majoring in Fashion Business Management and minoring in English. I am a New York native. It’s amazing to live and thrive in one of the fashion capitals of the world; it is a melting pot of different styles and trends. After college, I plan to be a full-time fashion model. I am hoping to incorporate my other interests as well as what I’ve learned throughout my years of studying fashion into a multi-faceted career.
I’ve always had a love for art, fashion, and all of its counterparts; I am deeply interested in photography, trend forecasting, product development, and fashion journalism. I am not a stylist, but I do love to dress myself! I enjoy learning about the science behind fashion and understanding how certain colors, fabrics, and silhouettes blend with each other. Aside from fashion, I am also interested in natural hair and skincare. It’s actually become an obsession.
I am a huge wanderer; I love to go thrifting with my friends, explore museums and art galleries, and travel. There are so many beautiful things to see and experience in the world. My boyfriend and I have a pretty lengthy bucket list of destinations we want to travel to. When I’m not on the run, I love to kick back at home and read through tons of fashion and beauty blogs or binge-watch Scandal, which is one of my favorite shows.
Although I love to dabble and experiment with different themes and trends, I describe my overall style as minimalistic. I love to dress in neutral tones, play with a mix of silhouettes and shapes, and give my outfits a kick with one or two eye-catching pieces. My style is very much influenced by streetwear, and the “model off duty” aesthetic. My look is very laid-back and effortless.
For this outfit, I put together a monochromatic and simplistic look. The Levi denim shearling jacket I’m wearing is an awesome thrift find I got from L Train Vintage! They have a great denim selection and lots of rare items to come across. Turtlenecks are a staple piece for the fall and winter seasons; I layered mine for some warmth and style detail. To add some sophistication to the look, I wore my joggers! The ponte material used for the joggers make it a versatile item; they can be dressed up for a formal outfit or thrown into a more casual look. My scrunched socks give the look a relaxed tone. Lastly, I tied it all together with my Nike SB Blazer sneakers. I’ve been on the hunt for these for a few months now; they are a great accessory to boost a simple streetwear look!
I am eagerly entering this internship with an open mind and desire to learn! I look forward to seeing the different takes on fashion that you all have to share, and I hope to give something to be inspired by!
