Hey there, Sarah Maberry here! I couldn’t be more excited to be joining the Guru Gang this spring and writing for CollegeFashionista!
I am currently a sophomore at Seattle Pacific University double majoring in apparel design and merchandising with a minor in women’s studies. I love fashion and using clothing to empower people. I wouldn’t want to spend my life surrounded by anything else! I’m really interested in fashion ethics and understanding how the fashion industry can reduce its impact on the environment and support developing countries.
In my free time you’ll likely find me tucked away in one of Seattle’s many coffee shops writing for my personal blog, listening to ’60s rock ‘n’ roll, or sketching something I’ll be sewing for my upcoming collection. I love discovering new music, watching history documentaries, and learning anything and everything there is to know about fashion.
When I come to style, I love to pair together styles that are unexpected. My wardrobe is a mash up of minimalism, southwestern boho, vintage styles, and grungy thrift finds. I guarantee that something I’m wearing has a cool story behind it, as everything in my wardrobe comes from thrift stores, vintage shops, or local businesses. I love shopping local and supporting the amazing city I get to call home.
For this look, I wanted to stick to simple pieces and colors, yet pair them together in a fun way. I started off my outfit with a denim jacket I covered with patches. Underneath I layered this textured turtleneck for warmth and a black bralette. On bottom I kept it simple by throwing on my favorite culottes. For shoes I stuck to the classics and threw on a pair of Converse high tops.
I am so excited to be writing for CollegeFashionista and collaborating with so many amazing people. I can’t wait to see what excitement and adventures this spring brings!
