Hello Fashionistas and Fashionistas/os! I am Kailyn, and this is my first semester joining CollegeFashionista. I would first like to say I am very excited to be a part of CollegeFashionista to share my style and explore the great styles of the other fashionistas/os.
I am a junior at Ohio University majoring in retail fashion product design and minoring in marketing. I am currently the fashion marketer for a new fashion magazine on campus called TheScene Magazine, that started a year and a half ago. The magazine was created as an outlet to allow students on and off campus to express their creativity, whether they are fashion majors or not. When the magazine first came to campus I was head of styling, which to me was a major role; because of the magazine that I enjoyed greatly. I also enjoy doing photo shoots on campus with my friends because there are so many great places in Athens to take photos.
Fashion has been my number one thing since I was young; I couldn’t see myself doing anything else. Sometimes, I get so excited I see a beautiful piece of clothing or put a impromptu look together. I believe when you find something that makes you that happy and something you feel genuine about, that you have found your niche in life. When I was in elementary school my mom bought me a sketch book that I used until it was full. Once I filled it up I realized that I didn’t necessarily want to be a fashion designer but I wanted to be a stylist. As I got older I gained a more realistic I had my mind set on being a buyer for a high end fashion store. However, the desire styling men and women is still a definite option for me.
I typically wear all black and I would say my style is edgy but also classic. My mother used to wear this jacket when she was my age that she passed down to me that you will most likely see me wearing. It’s black leather jacket with silver rivets along the lining of the jacket. I decided to  play more with patterns and textures, so I have this camouflage print jacket with fur lining on the collar from Forever 21. My new favorite pair of skinny jeans from Levi’s, that have bolts of lightening on them, they fit me so well and the best part is they were already on sale for $20, but I got another 50 percent off of that, which makes them even more special. The lace up black boots were probably the best purchase I made over Christmas break from Saks Off Fifth along with my French Connection bag that I haven’t been able to put down since I bought it.
I hope this experience of being a Style Guru will allow me to grow and explore and reveal things within myself that I had all along. I am excited to begin this rad semester!
