Hello again my fellow Fashionista/os! Third semester and counting as a Style Guru and I’m so happy to be back! Winter break has been nothing short of great and I’m spending it here in the sunshine state. Lots of laughs, sun, family, and friends these past couple of weeks, and I’m happy to savor the last weeks of winter break with the people I love the most.
They took the girl out of Manhattan, but they can’t take Manhattan out of the girl. With this ensemble, I took pieces I had received for Christmas (thanks Santa) that I was planning on wearing once I returned back to school and found them to be versatile for my current environment. Santa had left me a lot of Missguided’s website under the tree; my ribbed long sleeve top and ripped denim skirt were two of the items he left. I’m a girl who is a staple piece enthusiast, and this gray top is going to be put to so much use. The ribbed look of the top leaves it looking trendy, but it also duals for comfort as the top is super cozy. I’ll be throwing pieces on like this throughout the semester for class, errands, and almost anything in between. I live in denim, and I wanted to get a piece that was out of my comfort zone. I have not owned a denim skirt since the early 2000s, and to be honest, I was shocked at how much I love this piece. The skirt is really comfortable, and fits like a glove. I can’t wait to dress this skirt up and pair it with my favorite pair of high boots! Again with my staple pieces, two things every girl needs are Adidas superstar sneakers and Ray-Ban’s classic aviators. Both the aviators and the sneakers are just two things that will always go with everything and manage to make you look as if you put more time in than you actually did. As much as I enjoy a simple chic look, I do love glamour. My bling choker adds that to this outfit; but since we’re friends I’ll let you in on a secret, the choker is actually a wrap bracelet. I took it upon myself to do a mini DIY project because on this day I wanted a little extra bit of flair. Every woman has her favorite piece of staple jewelry, my mom’s is her tennis bracelet and mine is my ring. Majority of the time that staple piece carries a memory, and being away at school, I love to hold my loved ones in my heart. This ring was a gift from my long time boyfriend and it’s nice to have a piece of him everywhere I go.
With that all being said, I have a bright and fresh mindset for the closing semester of my freshman year at the Fashion Institute and I am eager to see where this semester may take me. Cheers to another semester, Fashionista/os!
