Bonjour, my fellow fashion aficionados! My name is Madison, and I am so excited to jumpstart my first semester with CollegeFashionista!
I’m currently a senior at Marymount University—a quaint private school just outside Washington, DC. I’m double majoring in communications and English with concentrations in writing and public relations, along with minors in fashion merchandising and media design.
I have always had a fervent fascination with fashion. I love everything about it—the culture, the makeup, the accessories, the shoes, the boundless possibilities. For me, fashion simply makes life more beautiful: it’s a vehicle of inspiration and a limitless art form, which connects us and differentiates us, all at the same time.
I want to experience, discover, create, inspire, and surround myself with talent and inspiration. Fashion offers just that, a miraculous world of fantasy and hard work, full of whimsy, colorful brilliance, vision, and risk. As a result, with graduation fast approaching, I plan to pursue a career in fashion writing or PR. Although, I’d certainly love any job that allows me to honor my lifelong love affair with fashion and satisfy my creative appetite. (Preferably one that involves travel. I love exploring new and unfamiliar places).
When it comes to my personal style, I would say it’s definitely transitional and versatile. But above all, I’d describe my aesthetic as eclectic, modern, edgy, and highly accessorized. I tend to almost always gravitate toward dark hues, deep jewel tones, elaborate prints, and intricate embellishments. I also have a wild obsession with dresses. I have so many that I’ve lost count. And 90 percent of the time I’m wearing mostly black. I just can’t help myself.
Fittingly, in this look I paired a rust ribbed tank dress with a velvet embossed kimono and opaque black tights. I topped off the ensemble with my go-to black leather booties, a gold and black choker, and a wide brimmed hat. And last but not least, a bold matte lip. I’m rarely ever seen without a statement shade.
I can’t wait to see where this experience takes me, and I’m so happy I get to enjoy the stylish ride alongside all of you!
