There’s a lot of pressure put on students to dress well for an internship. Sometimes, that pressure comes from spending money on new outfits. I believe that it’s all about investing in certain items and hunting for great deals. Dressing smart doesn’t mean spending a lot of money, it means shopping smart.
A cream trench coat is one of the greatest investments into your future (professionally and fashionably). A trench coat goes well with everything, and there is nothing classier than a cream one. They’re also great for keeping you warm for a majority of the year.
Some Fashionistas might be afraid to rock a red dress because the color comes off too strong. However when you find the perfect cut for your body, and the perfect shade of red, a red dress can give you confidence. This Fashionista is wearing a red and purple dress with a floral pattern. The floral pattern softens up the look, and she has a confident splash of red while muting the look down with purple. It all depends on how much you want to stand out at work. Choose the right red for you. You don’t have to spend a lot on a statement dress either. Find one that fits into your budget. If it isn’t something that you will wear every day, save up for a staple item instead.
A staple item that every Fashionista needs, is of course a large black bag. When you’re starting an internship, you need to make sure that you have a stylish way to carry your documents, your laptop, and of course your lipstick. A nice black bag is a great investment because black goes with everything. You might want to shell out a bit more cash for a nice leather bag so that it will last not only through this internship, but into your school life, and into your next job.
Most of us have to travel far for work and our internships, so we want to make sure that we’re keeping warm while looking stylish in the cold weather. That’s why I absolutely love a blanket scarf. Wrap the scarf around you while you’re riding the subway, and take a nice nap on your commute. If your cubicle just happens to be under that air conditioning vent, you will have a stylish way to keep layered.
Get these key items, and you’ll be more than ready to take on your internship.
