STYLE ADVICE: Layer Up!

The weather is still cold so that means we still need jackets, unfortunately. Most people try to avoid the cold when they have on an outfit that they want to be seen on campus. They try to find ways around wearing a heavy winter coat that might not be too fashionable. So they came up with layering. It’s a way to be warm but still look your best.

It’s really easy to fall into laziness. Being cold you just want to throw on whatever looks warm, and your winter coat to go to class or any other places around campus. We also have that thought, “well no one is going to see my outfit anyway because of this jacket,” and we forget about the great ways we can work around that heavy jacket. Remember though, we are Fashionistas! Instead of that heavy coat that will cover up your top, instead maybe layer your T-shirts. One could be longer than the other in length or one could be short sleeved and the other could be long sleeved, find a stylish coat or sweater with wool or fur lining in the inside or out and there you have it. Also on those days that you want to wear ripped jeans but you don’t want to be cold, put a pair on leggings or stockings underneath. They don’t have to be black, get creative with it.

This Fashionisto spends a lot of his time doing outside photography and when he isn’t doing that, he’s in the studio making music. Art and creativity plays a big role in his everyday life. Since he’s always on the go, he finds ways to keep up with his sense of style according to the weather. What caught my attention was the brown vintage leather jacket with the fur lining, and the rest of the outfit followed. Underneath he is wearing a longer salmon colored T-shirt layered with a tan hoody. The biker jeans with brown stitching and fading throughout the jeans complement the rest of the outfit. For the shoes he chose white leather vans, which completed the outfit and helped bring more attention to the white lettering in his hoody.

All together this Fashionisto has great style and has a great eye for colors and clothing. Not only did he dress him self according to the weather, but he made it look exceptionally good. So when you’re thinking about what to wear on these cold winter days always remember layering up a few pieces of your clothing before you go straight for that heavy coat.
