Between interviews for internships, interviews for part-time jobs, and preparation for new experiences (i.e. that dream internship), I’ve been overloaded and overwhelmed with the “professional” garb. That’s when I came across the classic white button-down shirt. It seems obvious for work wear, and there’s no doubt that it has great versatility, but does anyone really wear it? And by wear it, I mean pair it with anything other than traditional routine slacks.
I decided to take my oversize structured white shirt out to play, and play we did. I paired my classy white button-down with my DIY ripped jeans, some sophisticated black pointed-toe flats, and an edgy, yet feminine, choker. This outfit could easily be worn for class, brunch, or a fun weekend out and about. I personally chose to style my outfit with my shirt un-tucked because I prefer long, oversize shirts over slim bottoms. You could also choose to tuck your shirt in for a more polished look. Make sure that if you do tuck your shirt in, you are wearing a fun belt to play up your outfit. My favorite accessory of this season is my big, black, fancy sunglasses that I wear literally every day of my life, because Florida is hot and the sun is always out.
I think it’s extremely important to never take yourself too seriously. It’s so easy to get swept up in the endeavor of perfection, but make sure to take a step back today to just play and laugh at yourself. Most importantly, love yourself and appreciate your attributes!
