If you’re ever in your car on your way home, walking to class, shopping, or just looking for some downtime, do yourself a favor and listen to Office Hours with CollegeFashionista. It’s the perfect pick-me-up for your mind and heart.
One of my favorite things about CollegeFashionista is that they’ve created a podcast series dedicated to inspiring and aiding us to chase after our dreams and aspirations. How? By listening to those who did just that, achieved their dreams, and worked for it. Every episode is filled with a special guest who shares their unique life experiences, stories, career paths, and how they persevered in the efforts to live out their dreams.
Just to prove that Office Hours is the bomb, here are five valuable things I’ve learned from some of my favorite episodes so far. Trust me, you’re going to want to make this podcast queue—you’re welcome!
I remember listening to this episode and thinking: “Wow, this girl has done it all. I feel so inspired!” Throughout the episode she talks about her long journey to get her dream job at Vogue, which she achieved as Senior Beauty Editor! She shares how she worked her way up through different job positions and was willing to always try new things, and chase any open opportunities that came her way. She had positions at PopSugar, Into the Gloss, Architectural Digest, and many more. She is the perfect example that if you work hard, you might just get want you want. (Photo via @cfashionista)
This girl is such an inspiration and role model. Iskra Lawrence is a model and kind heart. She has destroyed barriers in the modeling industry and has been a strong advocate for body-positivity, self-love, and self-care. She talks about her experiences in becoming a model and how she turned all the no’s and rejections into motivation and hard work. Giving up was not an option! (photo via @iskra)
3. Riverdale stars, Camila Mendes and Lilli Reinhart
I remember being curious to listen to this episode because these were two girls I’d never heard of before. As I listened, I felt genuinely surprised to hear two new up-and-comers be so humble and kind, and excited to start a new journey in their lives. My favorite part was hearing them talk about their characters and sharing how they were proud to play roles that encourage healthy and positive female friendships on and off-screen. As a current fan of the show, I can say these two ladies are ones to watch! (Photo via @obsessee)
4. Style Guru Chat—Cece & Megan
This episode is by far the most relatable. It includes two fellow Style Gurus who share what it’s like to be a college student, be close to graduation and be a part of the CollegeFashionista community. It was nice to hear these girls talk about the things they’ve learned and gained from being a part of this community—a place I am too a part of. From trying to figure out what we want to do with our lives, to the struggle of trying to make friends, and finding a place in the world. It was nice to hear someone just like me going through similar experiences, showing us all that we’re never really alone. (Photo via @cfashionista)
5. Olivia Culpo
Olivia Culpo is indeed goals. As someone who entered a beauty pageant on a whim for the chance to grow and find her way into an industry she wanted so badly to be a part of; she shows us that if you believe in yourself, work hard, and strive for what you want you can make things happen. If she can win Miss Rhode Island, America and Universe back to back, why can’t we also have a breakthrough! (photo via @cfashionista)
