Hello fashion lovers and happy spring! As the semester dies down the temperature rises up and Fashionistas at URI are breaking out their warm weather wardrobes. A trend that I have spotted all over campus is double denim. This is the trend that is so wrong it’s right, and one of my personal favorites this spring season. You can never have too much denim!
Do any of you recall the iconic Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears all-denim matching ensembles that they wore to the 2001 American Music Awards? Some may credit them to this trend, but it doesn’t stop there. Recently, fashion icons like Beyonce and Kate Hudson have been spotted wearing this comfortable, eye popping trend around town.
When it comes to double denim, there are most definitely no rules. You can mix and match denim washes any way that suits your style. Whether your outfit is all the same shade of denim or two pieces that contrast in wash, the outfit will be a fun look. Go the extra mile and mix patterned or embellished denim to really stand out in your double denim!
This Fashionista is rocking a springtime double denim outfit. She piled on the layers with this look. She is wearing an oversize mesh crop top with a Free People bralette peaking through for a sexy touch. She also wore a pair of ultra distressed, high rise denim shorts. To double the denim, she topped the outfit with a grungy vintage Levi’s denim jacket, that was originally her dad’s; you gotta love a great hand me down. I am a huge fan of bold, gold accessories and that is what this Fashionista wore. She accessorized her look with a gold, crotchet choker and a pair of cut out Jeffrey Campbell ankle booties. This double denim look is casual, trendy, and perfect for spring.
It has been an awesome semester here with CollegeFashionista. I’ve enjoyed sharing my style advice, favorite looks, and more while being apart of the StyleGuru squad! Thank you all for tuning in. Don’t forget to always be bold and be yourself.
