Summer might just be one of the trickiest seasons to dress for, whether you’re knee-deep in an ocean channeling your resort girl vibes or strutting through the streets of the city trying remain cool and chic (while simultaneously attempting not to melt into a puddle on the sidewalk in the relentless heat). Either way, if you’re in need of summer styling inspiration, I got you.
This summer look includes a sheer, lace top with delicate embroidery and and open front. Lace tops such as this one are the perfect summer piece, capable of being either dressed up or dressed down depending on the look that you’re going for. Since this lace top would usually be paired with a more elegant outfit, I decided to have fun with it and attempt to incorporate it into a more easygoing look. So, daring as it may be, I wore this top with a simple black bandeau underneath and paired it with one of my all time favorite fashion staples, mom jeans (don’t let the name discourage you—these jeans definitely don’t scream minivans and soccer practice). The mom style jean is one of my personal favorites; even though they’re not only crazy comfortable, they add extra character to any outfit that you want to style them with. To finish off this look and incorporate one piece to accent the black bandeau while adding just a little more edge, I chose to wear black ankle boots. These boots made waves last fall and winter, and had almost every Fashionista on college campuses rocking them. So, why not carry them into the summer fashion scene as well?
