The Major New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2022 Trends You Can Shop Now

New York Fashion week has officially ended and NYC’s big comeback did not disappoint. Feathers and fierce prints floated down the Fall/Winter 2022 runways as fashion royalty Anna Wintour and other style moguls attended the shows during the week. We saw bows, tulle, and other delicate embellishments in the fall looks from designer Carolina Herrera. Meanwhile, Oscar de la Renta showcased colorful bright blue and green pieces styled with tall black boots. The collection had a rockstar-meets-princess-meets-retro vibe that was, quite frankly, iconic. Whether you’re buying ready-to-wear or balling on a budget, you can shop the trends from the shows now. Here’s some affordable versions of our favorite looks from the NYFW Fall/Winter collections.

Bountiful Bows

We’ve seen bows everywhere this past year. Well, we’re happy to say it looks like they’re not going anywhere. Dresses topped with a bow were seen in ready-to-wear fall collections by Brandon Maxwell, Carolina Herrera, Christian Cowan, and Coach.

Feather Frenzy

Feathers have also been a big trend that appears to be sticking around. They just make any look more glamorous. In both the Spring couture and Fall/Winter ready-to-wear collections from Area, we saw feather trims on bottoms and even tall feather boots. Area is currently having a moment, with It girls like Ariana Grande and Bella Hadid rocking the brand, taking the feather frenzy to a whole new level. We also saw feathers in many other collections including Brandon Maxwell and Christian Cowan.

Spice up your wardrobe with these feather trim pants from ASOS ($260).

Pattern Play

We see patterns every season, but this time around plaid and animal print dominate. We saw cheetah print in pants and dresses in the Alice + Olivia collection, stripes in the Altuzarra collection, and plaid in the Nicole Miller collection.

Shop this trend and add some fun to your fit with this cheetah print dress from Urban Outfitters ($55).

Glove Girls

The glove trend is gaining popularity. It feels more like dress up, with a Bridgerton-esque vibe. You could be going to a tea party or to the grocery store, gloves work for all occasions. Many NYFW collections, in particular the Christian Siriano and Alice + Olivia shows, showed fingerless gloves. This take on the trend is equally cool looking and practical.

Red (NYFW'S Version)

Maybe Miss Taylor Swift’s impact has spread into the fashion world since there was so much red to be seen during NYFW. Red is a classic color. Whether it’s a Taylor album or a statement piece, it’s always a classic look. LaQuan Smith showed red sequin dresses and fur hats, while Christian Cowan included bows and trains to his red looks.

This red sequin dress from Revolve ($99) is the perfect going out piece.

Even though fall collections were shown at NYFW, it’s easy to start incorporating the latest trends into your wardrobe now. Until next fashion week, you’ll see us in these looks.
