Hello fellow Fashionistas/os! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Ashley Berg, and I am currently a senior at the University of Wisconsin majoring in Journalism and French with a certificate in Environmental Studies. This is my first semester as a Style Guru, and I couldn’t be more excited to share some amazing street style with you all over the course of the semester.
I’ve known that I’ve had a love for fashion since I was eight years old when I drew a complete plan for a purple plaid dress with a white Peter Pan collar that I wanted my grandma to sew for me (I was too young to work the sewing machine myself). Although my dream of becoming a fashion designer never came true, I found the next best thing—writing about it.
I’ve read fashion magazines since I was 10, and I’ve read fashion blogs since I discovered the Internet. I have never been able satisfy my hunger for a good pair of black boots, a leather tote bag or a chic beret. My obsession of all things fashion became obnoxiously apparent when I first came to college and was able to see all of the effortless outfits hop off the pages of my magazine to the sidewalk in front of me.
My French major led me to studying abroad in Paris for four months. I will never forget my time there absorbing the culture, the food and, of course, all of the amazing street style. If I learned one thing while I was there, it is that you can wear the simplest of pieces and still have the chicest of outfits. I took this advice to heart; you will most likely catch me rocking an all-black ensemble including my trusty leather jacket, a pair of go-to skinny jeans and some chunky ankle boots.
I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to share my style as well as my fellow Badgers’ over the course of this semester. Be sure to stay tuned for my weekly posts to see some of UW’s street style!
