Hi Fashionistas/os! I’m Hope, a Public Relations student at West Virginia University. I have been a Style Guru for three semesters now, which means this will be my third STYLE GURU BIO. Even to me, it’s interesting to look back and see how my bio (in a fashion sense), has evolved naturally with time. It has been a positive experience relating my constant fascination with high-fashion to everyday style on WVU’s campus.
I’ve interned in NYC for the past two summers. I have gained experience with agency and in-house fashion PR work. Most recently, with label Veronica Beard. A fair share of my tasks were delegated around the Veronica’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection that was so fabulous; of course, I wanted to assist the VB team during the NYFW presentation. Booking the truck that the collection was to be transported to and from the presentation was a satisfying responsibility. On my way to the presentation alongside the truck driver, came the moment of realization that the entire collection was in mine and another intern’s hands. Yes…that was truly exhilarating! The memory of running around the city in the midst of chaos still makes me reminisce. I don’t think I’ve ever felt more alive! The energy that you feel at a certain time in a particular piece of clothing is something that simply can’t always be replaced. For instance, that dress I wore during NYFW, will always be, the dress I wore during NYFW.
Overall, I’m all about the ‘look good, feel good’ outlook on my everyday life. Whether that outlook is portrayed through a heel or sweater coat: live it up! Let’s face it, sometimes days can be too grueling to not have any pumped up kicks or a fun design to keep you warm. In the January issue of Vogue, Sofia Sizzi of label Giuletta stance of this season’s trends was enlightening: “I have nostalgia for eras I’ve never been in—the late ’60s, early ’70s.” With that being said, let’s take this season’s printed baby-doll tunic and thigh-high boots for all their worth. This might be an intangible concept for some, but have fun with fashion. Remember: your smile is always your best accessory.
I feel so fortunate to be able to be a part of CollegeFashionista during the recent revamp of the site. To say the least, it’s a great time to be a part of CollegeFashionista! Be sure to stay tuned for upcoming articles from WVU and all the other Style Gurus like myself.
