Hi there, Fashionistas/os! I am very honored and excited to be joining CollegeFashionista for another semester. This spring I will be scouting out Fashionistas on Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s campus, while I finish up my third year in the journalism school. Carbondale might not be the trendiest of places, but I am determined to shed some light on true college fashion from a very Midwestern campus.
Somewhere between playing dress up as a little girl and the strict uniform policies of my schools growing up, I was drawn to one of the ultimate forms of self expression—fashion. At times, I tend to find myself in a bit of a sensory overload in the fashion world. Pulling inspiration from brands such as Lilly Pulitzer and J.Crew to bloggers like Hilary Rushford and Sarah Belle helps me get through the daily struggle of “I have nothing to wear.” For a more in depth look at my day-to-day style, you can always check out my blog.
Sparkly, bright and monogrammed and I simply cannot say “no.” That being said, I find it difficult to categorize my style. As a college student, I like to think I’ve perfected the art of stretching my last dollar to unimaginable limits, which is why I would probably have to say one thing my style is, is affordable.
While style may not always smack you in the face, it is always around you. Follow along every Tuesday as I turn over every rock at SIUC in search for the best dressed students. You can always rely on my Instagram account for behind the scenes photos as well as daily inspiration wear. Hopefully I will shed some light on style for you and inspire a little Midwestern flare into your style as well.
