Hi there! I’m Lauren—city girl, shoe addict and bulldog fanatic. I’m also a fashion nerd and this is my seventh semester with CollegeFashionista. In May, I will graduate from Temple University with a degree in Marketing and Management Information Systems and embark on the next crazy journey in my life.
This time two years ago I wrote my first ever Style Guru Bio. I didn’t consider myself a writer by any means. I just knew I loved fashion and was eager to gain experience in the industry. I have to admit, my early attempts at flagging down Fashionistas were SO awkward. The first Fashionista I nervously stopped turned out to be a professor who promptly said, “Bye, Felicia” or something like that. Ouch. Despite that minor setback, I got right back on campus week after week, determined to capture the coolest street style trends at Temple.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from CollegeFashionista can be described by that simple story that each one of us has experienced. Push yourself. To succeed in anything, you’re going to need to step out of your comfort zone. Six semesters and 116 articles (and counting) later, I’ve stepped out of that zone and grown tremendously with CollegeFashionista. From talking to complete strangers to dabbling in interior design with CollegeDormista, I continue to surprise myself with what I’m capable of.
I can’t wait to report on Temple’s street style scene for one last semester. The trends I can’t get enough of right now are capes, chunky knit sweaters and tartan plaid anything and everything. In addition to Monday style advice articles, I’ll be dishing out monthly beauty tutorials in CollegeFashionista’s new Beauty Bar video series. I hope you’ll stay tuned for all of the exciting things to come this spring from the CollegeFashionista team!
