STYLE GURU BIO: Taylor Logeman

Greetings everyone!  My name is Taylor—enjoying life at twenty-two, college senior of Elon U, avid horseback rider, enthusiast of individual style and poise and follower of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Since my earlier tomboy years—during which I could almost always be found scampering outside, building forts and catching frogs—I’ve developed a keen interest in sartorial expression. Why do folks where what they wear? What made Chanel so brilliant?  What was it about Diana Vreeland that the industry found so captivating? These questions and many more spurred me forward, and I was eager to learn as much as I could (honestly, after reading this post, stop what you are doing and go watch her documentary, Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel, on Netflix. Brilliant.)

Over the years I’ve been blessed to have done a fair amount of traveling, studying trending threads near and far.  Born in the Midwest, raised in the Mid-Atlantic, educated in the charming upper-South, many times a visitor to America’s favorite city (or at least mine—the Big Apple), and a fortunate traveler to Western Europe and southeastern Africa—yes, I’ve seen plenty! From the preppy tendencies of north-central North Carolina, to the sleek and chic of New York, to the simplistically elegant of France, to the women adorned with wildly-patterned fabrics in Malawi, I have indeed seen plenty.  My travels have deepened my appreciation for uniqueness of style and fashion.

As for my own tastes, they change constantly. But what remains the same is the passion with which I pursue what interests me—in high school, that was high top Nikes, metallics, DIY cutout T-shirts, and randomly my denim blazer I’ve had forever. In college, that’s a well-drawn cat-eye beneath stylishly large frames, and high-waisted winter shorts over black tights. And staying true to my love for horses, it will always include breeches and black leather riding boots!

Today, as a ColllegeFashionista Style Guru, I look forward to being challenged, to considering new perspectives on my definition of quality fashion, and to continuously strive for excellence through expressing that definition. I’m grateful for all this position will give me, and for all doors of opportunity surely to follow.

Staying true to my faith-based standards, I intend to incorporate two concepts for every article I share: first, beautiful outfits worth sharing for public view, and second, outfits that maintain Christlike standards for young women who respect both themselves and those around them.  As Edith Head once aptly stated: “Your dress should be tight enough to show you are a woman —and loose enough to show you are a lady.”  In a day and age when it is increasingly acceptable to toss decent standards to the wind, I will strive to resist this tendency by continuing to promote higher standards of dress, without compromising the elegance, chicness, and uniqueness of one’s personal style.  With love and passion, I encourage my fellow Style Gurus (as well as young women everywhere) to do the same.

Share the love! I look forward to hearing feedback from my followers across all platforms of social media (see hyperlinks below, and follow me!)  I would love to hear from you!
