Hello fellow Fashionistas! My name is Emily, I’m 20 years old and a sophomore at Temple University. I have a love for all things technology — including digital media and communications, so it only makes sense that I’m majoring in communications studies and PR. While I’ve really enjoyed my time at college thus far, I can’t help but hope that I can someday merge my current studies with something in the fashion industry. I spend all my free time (and time that I really should be using to do other things as well!) scouring through fashion blogs and magazines, and of course spending all my money online shopping! Fashion is my favorite way to express myself and feel more confident.
Winter is one of my favorite seasons in terms of trends. Though it can be brutally cold in Philadelphia, it’s my chance to pull out all of my favorite oversized sweaters, chunky scarves and boots. Big, comfy sweaters are my staple item in the chilly months. Not only are they amazingly warm, but they are versatile and can be styled in all sorts of trendy ways. Scarves are also one of my favorites obviously for the warmth aspect but also because they can really add the perfect touch to an ensemble since they come in so many colors and styles. Winters are cold, rainy and snowy on the East Coast so it’s important to have a few pairs of dependable all-weather boots. My Sperry Top-Sider Quilted Boots are one of my favorite pairs because they aren’t too heavy and have a cute and warm boot liner. I’m also a fan of winter accessories like headbands, earmuffs and legwarmers. Big, roomy purses are always a must have on my list but are especially vital during the wintertime. I like to have a bag that is not only large enough to hold the year round essentials, but also a pair of gloves and a hat.
CollegeFashionista has allowed me to express my interests in fashion, photography and journalism—all hobbies that I very much enjoy, but am not necessarily able to study in school or make a career out of at the moment. Initially I thought that my internship with CollegeFashionista would just be a cyber internship; it wouldn’t really leave the internet. Boy, was I wrong! This past semester was so exciting in terms of CollegeFashionista. Through this internship I met many wonderful fellow fashion lovers who all attend the same university that I do. What’s so amazing about this? I met them through CollegeFashionista events and activities so without this internship I wouldn’t know them! This is my third semester as a Style Guru and I can’t wait to see what will come!
