One of the things that I have been trying to keep in mind as of late is that “you are under no obligation to be the same person you were five minutes ago.” As someone who has spent the greater part of my life cultivating a signature personal style, it can be difficult to let myself stray and experiment with new aesthetics. However, at this point in our young lives, we are growing, and there are so many changes happening that we can not afford to put ourselves into a box. This semester comes with a lot of changes for me and I am committed to embracing them and allowing them to help me grow both as a person and in my personal style. I am a Studio Art major in my third year at Oberlin College, but this semester I will be studying abroad in the city of Córdoba, Spain. I can’t wait for all the new experiences and challenges it will bring.
This will be my fourth semester writing for CollegeFashionista. Recently, I have been reminiscing about this time last year when I was writing my first post as a new Style Guru. I can’t believe how far I have come since then and how much I have learned through this internship. I am looking forward to writing for CollegeFashionista while I am abroad. Though it will be a little out of my comfort zone and very different from small town Ohio, I think that it will ultimately be an amazing and enlightening opportunity. I’m sure that this adventure will inspire a lot of incredible new content for my CollegeFashionista posts.
I feel like I am in a place in my life where everything is constantly in flux. One semester I am in rural Ohio, the next I am in a Spanish city. I have recently been feeling as though my personal style is in a state of transformation as well. I am trying to navigate the way in which my artistic, laid back college style translates into the world outside of a college campus. Adapting to a more adult style ready for all of the fresh experiences that life holds for me while still retaining remnants of my personal aesthetic comes with its own challenges. This season I have been loving my new Chelsea boots, statement jewelry, monochromatic looks and dressing up simple basics. I can’t wait to gather new inspiration while I am studying in Spain, and I look forward to sharing my experience with all of you through my blog and my weekly CollegeFashionista articles!
