STYLE GURU BIO: Lindsay Keaton

Hello Fashionistas and Fashionistos! I can’t tell you how happy I am to join the team as one of your newest Style Gurus!

I must warn you that my first semester with the CollegeFashionista team will be a little unorthodox. Instead of writing from the streets of Columbia, Missouri, I will be studying abroad  and writing from the cobblestone streets of Florence, Italy. Make sure to check in with me every Tuesday for the latest fashion lessons the Italians have to teach us. I’m sure it will be nothing short of sorprendente! (Italian to English translation: amazing!)

This semester I will be immersing myself into the Italian culture and learning as much as possible, while trying to avoid bankruptcy. So pray for me and my wallet, please. Meanwhile, I will be posting the most stand-out looks on the European cobblestone and my ways of incorporating it into everyday wear for back home.

As a junior at the University of Missouri-Columbia, I am obtaining a dual major in Strategic Communication and Textile/Apparel Management. You can call it my attempt at turning an incurable shopping addiction into something maybe a little more beneficial. My [current] plan is to use those degrees toward a job in the Public Relations field of fashion (being the publicist for a brand, coordinating special events, free access to designer closets.)

I’m confident that I have what it takes to bring you the best looks week in and week out. I’ve had the pleasure of being a guest writer for JWC Media in Chicago where I was able to further practice my writing style and even be published in their North Shore magazines. That little taste I got of a career in the real world sparked my enthusiasm for this opportunity to fully take advantage of my semester abroad by documenting it on CollegeFashionista.

On my to-do list for the New Year is to find the perfect, universally flattering nude nail polish color like these neutrals from Essie, as well as find a stellar crop top/skirt combo outfit, like this one here. I’m also on the hunt for versatile pieces that can be worn during a job interview or internship, then transitioned to a night out with the girls.

For now, I must deal with the daunting task of packing for five months in a fashion-forward city such as Florence. How will I fit that into two large suitcases? Good question, I’ll let you know when I figure that out myself.
