For as long as I can remember, I have been captivated by fashion. Even as a preschooler with bangs and a Little Mermaid backpack, I had a method for picking out the perfect ensemble. I was convinced that no one could pick out an outfit better than I could. I soaked in images from my mother’s Glamour subscriptions, the mannequins in Nordstrom and those coveted evenings when an award show would be on and I could ogle at the gowns that celebrities wore on the red carpet. To me, it was not the celebrities that mattered, but the intricate dresses that draped over them that did. I eagerly anticipated grand ball gowns billowing with tulle, diamond encrusted bodices and dramatic satin mermaids. I formed an insatiable curiosity for the art that fashion was. I wanted to know how designers could transport their ideas to the runway and how I could do the same.
From sewing outfits for my Barbie dolls and shopping at Limited Too to reading any fashion publication that I could get my hands on, my love for fashion has never faltered. I love how fashion is, in many ways, unpredictable. Although many designers seem to produce a certain type of look, they always find a way to shock us with their latest collections. For instance, Zac Posen crafts gowns that are characteristic of dramatic silhouettes and a classic elegance that gives anyone wearing them an endearing glow. Nonetheless, I am always awed by every new gown that he creates.
My own style is preppy, feminine and fun. Some of my favorite style icons include Audrey Hepburn, Blake Lively, Sarah Jessica Parker and Victoria Beckham. I am really enjoying the current midi skirt trend and love dressing up the look with cute accessories. For this particular look, I added a kate spade new york mini tote and earrings with a Betsey Johnson bracelet.
I am so thankful for this internship at CollegeFashionista because I know it is a step in the right direction. I have always enjoyed writing and I dream of writing about Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week and helping with the September Issue at Vogue. I know that there is still so much that I have to learn as an aspiring journalist and Fashionista, but I hope that my experiences as a college student and now, as a Style Guru, will help my dreams come true. Thank you for reading my bio! I hope that you will enjoy fashion and wear whatever makes you feel confident and beautiful.
