Rebecca Minkoff’s pre-fall 2015 collection represents everything I try to convey in my own personal style. The military-inspired color scheme in this collection create a classic look, yet it is intriguing with pops of embellishments and textures here and there. Structure in a design is important when trying to pull off more monochromatic looks, and this collection executes that perfectly. My army jacket is one of my go-to pieces to help create a chic yet casual outfit, which is always an objective of mine when choosing outfits from my wardrobe. Sometimes I feel that my favorite military jacket is too casual, but Rebecca Minkoff’s pre-fall collection shows me otherwise!
Simplicity seemed to be an important theme to follow in order to emobody these looks from Rebecca Minkoff’s collection into an outfit of my own. I chose to wear all-black and stick to mostly monochromatic colors to imitate Rebecca Minkoff’s collection. Mimicking the designs, I incorporated leather in my outfit with the sleeves of my jacket, my booties and my leather cross-body bag. I wore my favorite black booties to convey a more androgynous feel for this look. I liked this outfit because I was comfortable in it, and I still felt put together and ready to take on my first day back to classes. Some people may think wearing mostly one color can be boring or redundant, but Rebecca Minkoff’s collection proves this style can be effortlessly fashion-forward.
