Surviving the cold Ithaca winters requires a little imagination. For this reason, I often skim the latest resort wear on the runway and imagine myself on a beach somewhere far away from the slushy sidewalks and gray skies of upstate New York. When I came across Andrew Gn’s 2015 resort collection, I immediately wanted to implement the pale pinks and golds into my wardrobe. Just because I live somewhere where the temperatures tend to drop faster than the beat doesn’t mean I have to succumb to the typical dark winter palettes that overpower many a New Yorker’s closet during the colder months.
One of the most stunning looks of Gn’s collection features a pale pink shirt and a floral mini skirt. Though the ensemble is fairly simple, the graceful femininity caught my attention. You may be wondering why I’m so interested in resort wear since I’m living through a New York winter. In fashion, there is inspiration everywhere, so I decided to make this look work despite my geographic location.
I ended up opting for a gold pencil skirt and a pale pink T-shirt. The pencil skirt is more practical for New York weather than a mini skirt, and the casual vibes the T-shirt evokes means you can still wear this look to class. Though the weather was surprisingly warm when I was photographing this style, I’d wear a black peacoat next time to keep warm.
Get My Look: 1. A gold pencil skirt. 2. The perfect pink lip. 3. Glamorous black heels.
