It’s quite common in the state of Michigan for temperatures to drop below freezing for most of the season. I know I have always thought it was more difficult to look fashionable in the winter time, but as I got older, I realized how easy it is to dress up with temperature in mind. Since Michigan State has a fairly large campus, it’s commonplace for your walks to class to be at least 20 minutes. You have to embrace the cold and accessorize while staying warm at the same time. The key to surviving this walk is to bundle up with a long parka that covers your bum.
I noticed the Fashionista walking to class and truly appreciated the use of color in her winter wear. The knit fingerless gloves are perfect for texting and shuffling your playlist on your cellphone while still keeping your hands warm. The faux fur scarf is a new twist on the infinity scarf that I find to be an up and coming fresh trend. The purple color of the parka caught my eye as it is typical to see ladies wearing the black parkas on campus. It is always a good idea to stand out from the crowd. Lastly, the beanie is the perfect fix for those days when you just don’t feel like washing your hair.
So, next time you venture out on your walk to class, don’t forget to complement your outerwear with cozy accents in a way that is both trendy and functional.
One Simple Change: If your going from a day to night look you can always grab a leather jacket to change this look from casual to chic and still rock the beanie, gloves and scarf.
