Nicole Miller’s fall 2014 ready-to-wear show was the definition of #GIRLBOSS—I just re-read Sophia Amoruso’s book, so I’m feeling a little extra feminist today. Miller’s collection looked as if it were straight out of a fairy tale where all of the women were their own heroes. (Prince charming, you’re not necessary here). With a lot of black, leather and the perfect amount of sparkle, Miller created flawless—Beyoncé reference—looks for the independent woman. Powerful is the best way to sum up this fall collection.
I’m all about some girl power. In the wise words of NASTY GAL’s CEO, “A #GIRLBOSS is someone who’s in charge of her own life. She gets what she wants because she works for it. As a #GIRLBOSS, you take control and accept responsibility.” Today, I implicated this mentality with a little inspiration from my girls Nicole Miller and Sophia Amoruso. I emulated look four from the runway show by wearing a leather jacket with embellished sleeves. According to my boyfriend, my sleeves look exactly like a suit his grandma has, but I love them! (We all know that girls don’t dress to impress guys anyway.) A leather jacket with a unique sleeve adds an interesting touch to any ensemble. I completed my outfit with a pair of my favorite black skinny jeans, a black T-shirt, Ray-Ban aviators, a beanie and suede booties.
This fall 2014 show inspired me to keep my look strong. The items I’m wearing all represent the bold creation of Miller and I could not feel more empowered.
Get My Look: 1. An embellished leather jacket. 2. Aviator sunglasses. 3. Black skinny jeans.
