Hello everyone! I’m Jannel Varona. I am a senior at Rutgers University‘s School of Arts and Sciences concentrating in Journalism and Video Production. I’ve written for publications such as YHMMagazine.com, MechanicalDummy.com and I’ve interned at Seventeen Magazine. I have covered hard news to fashion, entertainment and pop culture—gaining experiences from interviewing strangers on the streets to designers backstage at New York Fashion Week and asking empowered men and women with their respective brands.
I wasn’t always into fashion. I can still remember the girl in her sixth grade class picture wearing a plain short sleeve shirt with long sleeves underneath (because it was “cool” back then!), flared-bottom jeans and heavy-looking sneakers. I had my hair pulled all the way back with my braces showing and Harry Potter glasses. I was a complete geek. Don’t get me wrong, I still am, just a more fashionable one. I love that memory though and the fact that Transformation Tuesdays exist. Black is never not incorporated into my daily wardrobes. It’s very rare to find a pop of color in my outfits.
When I’m not working as a barista at a coffee shop, I’m most likely hanging out in one (and you know, writing for CollegeFashionista!) I’m forever on the haunt for new donut shops. I enjoy exploring and discovering places by myself. I’m constantly on twitter and Instagram (@janneltherese)! I’m excited to venture throughout my college’s campus and share with you what Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey has to offer. If fashion was like football and had a Big Ten, we would so be a part of it too.
