Well folks, it’s that time of year again in Iowa City and those light sweaters and cardigans that were once your go-to are no longer cutting it. The urge to stay inside and binge watch Netflix with a hot coffee is always present, but we can’t avoid braving the cold forever. Dressing warm can be a hassle and often turns into throwing on a hodgepodge of layers that leave you with limited mobility. But who says bundling up means you have to look like the Michelin Man? This Fashionista has aced the perfect snow bunny look.
Let’s talk about that coat and sweater combination. I love the contrast between her blush pink knit sweater and black KORS Michael Kors puffer coat. Mixing in even a hint of a soft color is all it takes to add a little brightness to any gloomy winter’s day, keeping the look fresh and playful. As for the coat, I swear by them. They’re perfect for keeping warm but not leaving you feeling bulky.
I think it’s safe to say the UGGs craze has finally died down and there’s a new fad in town. Enter Sorel boots. While they can run a little on the pricey side, they are not only adorable, but also extremely practical. Throw them on with leggings, like this Fashionista, for an easy way to maintain the crucial balance between comfy and cute.
Her look is brought to a cozy conclusion with a knit scarf and a beanie serving as the cherry on top. When dressing for any occasion, it’s important not to leave any loose ends. Our Fashionista was able to tie in all of the different hues of black and gray together with simply adding a multicolored infinity scarf, allowing her to achieve a put together look (and withstand the subarctic temperatures at the same time).
One Simple Change: Not quite cold enough for a full length coat? No problem. Try pairing a vest with the sweater instead. No one does vests like J.Crew!
