Winter in New York is not as cold this year; the snow came later than usual. For most people, black is the ultimate color for winter coldness. For this Fashionista, however, jeans are the new black.
Denim was first invented for working class people because it is lightweight and stretchy. It is hardly used for winter clothes because it can’t combat the coldness very well. However, with a thick of layer of wool inside, a denim coat would be the perfect winter piece to make you stand out in the sea of black. Denim usually represents a summertime vibe, but doesn’t remind people of winter. To stand out in the crowd, I suggest you wear a denim coat to bring a sense of warm to the whole outfit. This Fashionista intentionally wears other pieces in black to emphasize the light blue jean jacket. The black pants, shoes and even her bag showed her intention on highlighting the denim outerwear. Also, this type of fabric is not usually combined with winter boots or pants; when trying to make it fit your style, short leather boots are always a perfect choice.
If you think a jean jacket is too thin for a freezing day, wearing a small piece of denim will work. A jean handbag, denim skirt or even a denim headband will lighten up your mood for the day. Light colored jewelry, like this Fashionista’s silver necklace, will bring out a sense of aliveness. When trying to look different in the crowd, let denim become the new black.
