STYLE GURU STYLE: Finding Your Fringe

For those of you who do not know much about me, you should know that not only do I work for CollegeFashionista as a Style Guru, but I also work at the one and only H&M. I have been there for a little over two years now and I give the company so much credit to my ever-evolving style. Before, I would stick to cute little numbers, never straying from what was normal or “loud.” But these days, you can bet that I will douse myself in garments and accessories that can stray from the everyday norm.  I have come to find after this last year that my peers (who are not declared Fashionistas/Fashionistos), tend to raise a brow to clothing with fringe. I may have missed the memo as to why fringe has been categorized as something “weird” or “cowboyish” by the community. However, it does not matter to me because I have an amazing fringe leather jacket that I feel the best in. I actually sought out this jacket when I came across Tamara Mellon’s spring 2014 collection, which featured an awesome fringed, black leather skirt. I don’t particularly wear skirts, so I thought I would try finding a leather jacket with fringe instead, and we’ve been together ever since!

Yes, I love fringe, but it does not mean that I like to wear all kinds of fringe. I have tried different looks in different fabrics and textures, and it turns out that the only variation of it I really like on myself is black leather. But that doesn’t  come as a surprise from the girl who wears various black and leather clothing on a day-to-day basis. However, I do have a friend who is very down-to-earth and totally rocks fringed moccasins. So to those of you who love the look but may be unsure about “finding your fringe,” do not be doubtful. There is a fabulous fringe-world out there and the perfect one is waiting for you!
