In her pre-fall 2015 collection, Rebecca Minkoff carried on the military-inspired trend of the spring season. Her entire collection pays homage to the utilitarian pieces utilized by the brave men and women who serve their country. The military green and black palette is carried throughout, while still maintaining some feminine qualities. Her collection is riddled with well-tailored and structured pieces, complemented by lace-up footwear and a hefty amount of pockets.
I have been a big fan of the military trend, and I was more than happy to carry it over to my winter wardrobe. My coat is a military green, has a fur lining and is a utilitarian style when zipped all the way up. The military green color of the coat is off-set by a lighter shade that runs from the hood down the back. It is made of a waterproof material, which was perfect for the rainy day I experienced that day.
I was inspired by Minkoff’s pairing of the military green and black. I chose to keep the rest of my ensemble monochromatic. I opted for a simple black long sleeve shirt, black jeans and black boots. My lace-up black leather boots, which are one of my favorite pieces, also well represent the military trend. Finally, I added gold tassel toggle necklace for a touch of femininity.
Rebecca Minkoff’s collection inspired me to add more masculine pieces to my wardrobe, and to continue on with the beloved military trend that is quickly becoming a go-to style for the everyday fashionista.
