Ciao, again, from Florence, Italy!
In the short time that I have been abroad, in a place where there is no shortage of carbs and gelato, I have gained a new appreciation for high quality foods. To keep a healthy balance, however, I decided that it could not hurt me to go for a run or extra long walk once in awhile (to justify eating that extra cannoli). With this in mind, I decided to dedicate this post to fashionable athletic wear.
It is rare to see many Italians running for sport, but for the American student who is an avid runner, Florence is a beautiful place to take a jog. The streets are a bit uneven, but just a bit outside of the city there are larger parks and green areas that are perfect for running through. I can imagine that you would want to run that extra mile, just for the thrill of exploring new places within and around the city. Unfortunately, running past a crowd of Italians in their fashionable ensembles can be pretty intimidating, especially when you are wearing some plain shorts and an old T-shirt.
Though it may not be the best idea to throw on your favorite sweater dress and leather boots, it is totally possible to look fashionable and feel comfortable enough to pack on another mile if you’re feeling particularly ambitious. When heading out for a run, I suggest pairing some fun leggings with a more basic top. If it’s a little cooler outside, throw on a fitted sweatshirt. Get creative with how you put your hair back. Add a headband or try out a different updo!
This Fashionista wears an outfit that flawlessly blends practicality and style. She opts for a black on black look with Nike leggings and a zip-up by The North Face. Touches of color can be found in her turquoise tank top and the pink on her tennis shoes. Instead of the typical ponytail, she ties her hair back in a chic side braid.
With a chic, athletic look like this, you might just get asked out to grab some gelato with a cute Italian boy (and you won’t even have to feel guilty about eating it).
