The color navy has been a staple in the fashion world for ages, but recently it has been making a comeback in a big way. A number of spring 2015 runway shows such as Calvin Klein spring 2015, Marc Jacobs spring 2015 and The Row spring 2015 are featuring navy as the staple hue to keep in one’s closet. When I spotted this Fashionista effortlessly gliding along Pitt’s campus in her navy blue maxi skirt, I knew she was already ahead of the trend.
I love the way this Fashionista let the navy skirt speak for itself and be the focal point of her outfit by keeping the rest of her look simple with a beautiful cashmere cream sweater. She then beautifully accessorized the navy with authentic gold jewelry that also holds special meaning to her life. The necklaces are from a hometown boutique and are made from the coins of each country they represent. This Fashionista is wearing the Spain, Australia and Canada necklaces since she has traveled to each of these countries and they have left valuable memories in her heart.
Navy is the perfect neutral color to have in your closet. You can wear it during any season since the color is so versatile and matches everything. In the coming months, I believe we will see a navy takeover on the streets. This color has been a favorite for years and by the looks of it will not be leaving our sight anytime soon. So the next time you are struggling to find an outfit, pull something navy from your closet, experiment with the different shades of hues of the color and you won’t go wrong.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Wear your favorite color once a week and style the rest of your look around that color.”
